2004-06-11 IBM Power5 Successor to Power4 built in 0.13 um technology. The MCM (Multi Chip Module) includes 4 chips with two MultiThreaded cores each presenting a total of 16 virtual cores on the MCM. Each chip also has a 36 MB L3 cache attached for a total of 144 MB of L3 cache on the MCM. Each MCM can be connected to other MCMs through a 4GB/s bus for up to 128-way multiprocessing.

A single core version, also with Simultaneous MultiThreading, may also be launched. Each core includes 120 registers (80 on the Power4) and is said to have 40% to 100% better performance. Will later move to 90 nm with the Power5+ version.
Will be available 2004-06-11.

2005-02-XX Sony Cell PlayStation 3 will be powered by the "Cell" processor. It is based on a PowerPC G4 core with eight added vector engines, developed jointly by IBM, Sony and Toshiba. "A hypothetical Cell processor with eight of these APUs could achieve 32 BOPS and 32 gigaFLOPS at only 250MHz,".
Said to be in limited production in 2005 while full scale production is planned for 2006.

2005-11-14 Sun Niagara Blade processor including 8 Afara-created (simplified UltraSparc I) cores on one die. Each core handles 4 threads and supports Switch on Event MultiThreading (SoEMT) like Montecito. Launched in 2006. (Previously said to be based on UltraSparc V cores). Named UltraSparc T1 at release.

2005-11-22 Xbox 360 Xbox 2 is also known as Xenon and said to be named Xbox 360. Said to use ATI R500 derivative graphics and a IBM 64-bit PowerPC 976 processor with three cores on one chip. Both processor and graphics chip work in big-endian mode. Xbox Next and Xbox Next HD shows up in second half of 2005 while Xbox Next PC (a fully fledged PC) shows in autumn 2006. Launched in a special MTV-show in May -05 and shipped in November this year. Previously known as Xbox 2.

2006-H2 Sun Rock High-end version of Niagara.

2007 AMD K9 Quad core chips said to succeed the current generation.
