2004-06-01 MXM, Axiom nVidia has created MXM (Mobile PCI Express Module) while ATI created the Axiom (Advanced eXpress IO Module). Both are based on PCI Express, but with a form factor suitable for notebook graphics cards. In MXM three versions are planned:
MXM I is geared toward thin'n'light laptops, MXM II to mainstream machines and MXM III is intended for desktop replacements.
ATI only has two form factors for thin'n'light and performance machines.
2004-08-12 Nvidia GeForce 6600 Graphics chips for the mainstream segment made in a 110 nm process. Native PCI Express will be supported, with a possible AGP-bridge solution. Will be called GeForce 6600 upon release. 6600 is clocked at 300 MHz, while the GT version runs at 500 MHz, is SLI-ready and uses GDDR-3. Formerly known as NV43.
2005-01-19 Intel Alviso Chipset in Napa platform based on Grantsdale, but for notebooks succeeding Montara and Odem from the Centrino line. Likely to be available in several versions with (-GM) and without graphics. Earlier planned for 04-H2. G-version said to include the GMA900 graphics core.
Alviso is part of the Sonoma generation of the Centrino platform.
Napa64 is likely to be a Alviso with support for Merom.
